Welcome to the Heart of the Homeless

Heart of the Homeless is dedicated to addressing the homeless crisis in the Kitchener-Waterloo region through charitable events, creating sustainable housing opportunities for those in need. We aspire to give the unhoused a platform to share their opinions and lives.

A homeless person sits against a wall, holding a sign and accompanied by a dog. Blurred figures of pedestrians pass by quickly, highlighting the contrast between movement and stillness. Storefront items are displayed in the window behind the person, with various decorative objects. The image is in black and white, emphasizing a somber tone.

Community Support Events

Our organization encourages more volunteers to contribute to the homeless community through our donations and charity events. Volunteers can connect with the unhoused community and learn through first-hand experiences.

Donation Initiatives

Donations are collected for several organizations or encampments across the KW region. Volunteers get together to prepare meals, gather clothing, create care kits, etc. to help the homeless community meet their basic needs.

Community Support

We organize various charitable events to engage the community and raise awareness, to benefit homeless individuals and families in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. This includes partnering with organizations with similar visions and volunteering at these locations.

Understanding Homelessness in the KW Region

The homeless crisis in KW has become a growing struggle for homeless communities to access necessities or safe shelter. Nearly 1,200+ people have faced chronic homelessness as of 2021 with only five shelters in the region.

Our long-term project is to develop safe and self-sufficient housing strategies.
